Peter Mellor Writes:

I have being trying to find a photo of the winter school uniform and cap. All I can find is a photo of my father - Vernon Mellor with his twins - my twin sister Polly went to Brampton Down School in Folkestone.

I am wearing winter uniform. Dark-blue raincoat, dark-blue and light-blue long woollen scarf, grey shirt with light blue tie. The dark-blue cap is like a 'sally-lun' toasted teacake with six portions delineated by light-blue stripes. In the front centre was the light-blue Tudor rose.
If I had not been wearing wellington boots there would be long grey socks and black lace-up leather brogues.

This is a very period 50's photo !

PS.  Has anyone still got their cap? I fear mine ended up on a guy on Nov 5th some years after I left. Shame !

Dear David Lyne-Gordon &  David Michael-Dunbar,

Attached photo of Ted Foster talking to Stewart Fincham (on right) and Scott circa 1956. This was taken outside the dining hall and the start of the covered way to the Playroom can be seen on the left foreground.

Kind regards
Peter Mellor

I attach the Fencing Team as at Christmas 1957.
Note the dark-blue/light-blue arm bands, with the light-blue Tudor Rose for those with Colours.
Photo taken in the gravel playground against the privet hedge by Group Captain Foster's flat - I think.

Arthur Stevens, Chris Menaul and I went on to Hurstpierpoint College. Stevens then went into the Royal Marines and now lives in Devon somewhere. His older brother Ralph Stevens - who also went to Westbrook lives a few miles from me at Horsmonden. Menaul read History at Oxford before being a film director. I am trying to find out his present whereabouts.
I have lost touch with the other four.

Kind regards
Peter
